New York

The week after my last week of school we went to New York. We were going there for five days to see the city. We stayed at a hotel near our old home in New Jersey. There we could take ferry to New York City, see it for the day and then come back.

The first day that we were there we spent driving to the hotel in Edgewater. In the evening we met Amma’s friend for dinner. They had a baby son who was really cute and fun to play with. His name was Arjun. We left at night and then went to see Baba’s friend at his apartment before we went back to ours. He was really nice.

The next day we took a ferry to New York. We went to the Intrepid Museum which was an aircraft carrier that was turned into a museum with planes on display there. We saw all types of planes that were used during World War 2. The Intrepid had also been active during that war. After we left the museum we went to see the Vessel which was made by a designer named Thomas Heatherwick who I read about in school. It looked epic and we even got to go inside of it (see the pictures). We came back to the Intrepid  Museum to see the Concord - the worlds fastest plane. After that we went to the Highline Park. It was a level above all the buildings and connected to the area near the Vessel. We then got Kati rolls and when back to the hotel. We also went into a World War 2 submarine at the Intrepid museum.

The third day we went to Legoland!!! I had not known we were going there until we got to it but I had guessed that we were going there. Going there was my 5th grade graduation gift and it was great.

At Legoland we managed to go to all the different areas and do something in each one. One of my favorite rides was the Ninjago one. In it you shoot energy balls at the Ninjago enemies to earn points. I got the most points! Another ride was the pirate ride where you went in circles on a small boat like thing and you could choose to go fast or slow. Also the people not on that ride could hit a button and then water would splash on which ever rider was near it.  A third ride was another pirate one where you are in a ship and you had to fire water cannons at targets while people outside the ride shot water at you and people on other ships did to. Amma shot water guns at us while Baba and I took the boat and shot back. Before we left I made something and stuck it to a wall where people could put there creations. See the photo! After that we went to the hotel and had dinner. Also I got to build 3 custom Lego mini figures that I got to keep and take home.

The fourth day we went to the color factory. The color factory was an interactive experience about color. You got to get your own badge of a certain color that is your favorite, then in the next room you partner with a family member and they and you try to draw each other without looking at the paper. You also got treats at every activity. At the very end there was a ball pit and ice cream so in all it was great! After that we ate lunch and then went to a Star Wars exhibit. The exhibit had a collection of Star Wars character busts, action figures, vehicles, and weapons. They even had life sized statues. There were 600 pieces and we saw the whole thing. We also did a VR experience. We then went to a bakery and drank chocolate shots. Then we went and met my cousin Vihaan for dinner.

The next day I walked by the river front with Amma then we left for home after stopping for lunch at an Indian snack place. The trip was super fun and awesome and everyone enjoyed it!
