Scotland Trip

As part of the same trip as my London trip, we went to Scotland. Only Amma, Baba, and I went to Scotland. Thatha went to India to finish some banking work. We went to Scotland to visit my cousins, Vrushank and Vyshak. They live in Edinburgh.

In Edinburgh we did many things like seeing Edinburgh castle, Victoria street (which is a street that looks a lot like diagonally from Harry Potter), and we saw the cafe where JK Rowling started writing Harry Potter book series. Amma and I had already seen this during our December 2022 trip, but we wanted to show Baba. We also climbed part way up Arthur’s seat which is a huge hill and an extinct volcano with a view of Edinburgh. 

We also did a road trip for 4 days with my cousins and went to the Highlands of Scotland. During the road trip we first stopped at a place to see a rotating boat lift called the Falkrik wheel. The Falkirk Wheel is worlds only rotating boat lift connecting three canals and making boats pass through the canals smoothly. We also saw the Kelpies which were huge horses built out of metal and were used to show a Scottish mythology story. In addition, on our way to Inverness, we saw the battle field where Scotland lost its independence and became part of the UK. 

We also went to Isle of Skye where we stayed at a very nice Air B&B that was very modern. There, we did a 90 minute hike to a rock called the Old Man of the Storr. We also were going to hike to these water falls called fairy pools, but it was raining too heavily. We also went to see a rock formation called the kilt rock that looked a lot like the scottish kilt. Towards the end of our trip, we went to a town called Obin so that Baba and Amma could do a whiskey tasting tour. At the end of our Scotland trip, we went back to London to spend a few more days there. You can read about this in my London blog.
