December 2023 holidays, we went to Mumbai for a wedding. It was Mitali Auntie's brothers wedding. Just two days before our flight to India, we were in California (read about it in the other blog). We stayed at The Resort at Madh Island which was also the wedding venue. The first day, was the sangeet and we went to it less than 12 hours after we arrived in Mumbai. There were lots of dance performances by the family of the bride and the groom. After they were done, the floor was opened for all of us to dance.
The next day, all the men and boys wore turbans including me. We then went to the baraat where instead of the groom arriving in a horse or elephant as per tradition, he arrived in a fancy car. We then danced around that car as it made its way through the resort. It was very hot
but fun
. When we reached the start of the venue, there were a bunch of hired dancers that did a marathi Lezim dance. That was all until lunch. After lunch there was another ceremony in which they used a machine to throw flowers at the bride and groom. The wind made it so that the flowers came on the audience instead though! After that, there was the main ceremony for the wedding. While the ceremony was going on, there was a tradition that the brides side of the family tried to steal the grooms shoes. The grooms side had to keep this from happening. Aadi had the shoes with him and he successfully kept them from being stolen. After that we had dinner and then we went to bed. Also, when the bride and groom entered the venue, they had fireworks and fog machines along their path.

We were supposed to go on a Mumbai tour but it didn’t work out. What happened was that we went to our new hotel that was closer to the airport, and the tour bus was supposed to come also. Unfortunately, they went to the wrong hotel because there are two hotels with the same name in the city. Eventually, we just all met up at the Gate Way of India. We also saw the Taj hotel. Later, we went on a speed boat ride along part of the city. After this, we met Baba’s college friend, Mitali Auntie (not the one from the wedding).
For the next two days, we met Kavya auntie and did things in Mumbai with her. We saw Antilla, a super expensive house owned by the Ambanis. We also saw Shah Rukh Kahn’s house. Another thing we did is see NMACC. There we saw an infinity mirror exhibition, a pop art exhibit, and we went in the world’s largest passenger elevator! It even had couches!
On our last day in Mumbai, I went to the pool in the evening at the hotel and had a lot of fun. Then, we were one our way to Delhi!
