We arrived at the random house that we booked two days before my Baba’s birthday. We had once again come to Finger Lakes, NY but this time, it was to celebrate Baba’s birthday.
We got there on Friday night and ate a good Italian dinner. Oma and Dadu had also come with us to celebrate.
The day before the birthday, we went to the Corning Museum of Glass. We saw various glass sculptures. We also made either glass ornaments or sculptures. The ornaments were either round or cone shaped as were the sculptures. We learned how the glass was made also.
First the sand is heated into glass. Then the glass is put on a metal rod and air is pumped into it until it takes shape. This is where we come in. We stepped on a pedal causing air to go into the glass and make it take shape. Afterwards, they put the colors on it. I asked for black and light blue on mine.
We bought a few plates and glasses from the gift shop after that and then called it a day. We went back to the museum day after Baba's birthday to collect what we had made.
Baba’s birthday celebrations started at midnight. He cut the cake that Oma had baked while face timing with Kaku, Kaki and Alia. Baba opened presents in the morning. Baba got two T shirts from Amma and I. They had pictures of wine and beer on it and a funny joke to go along with it. After he opened the gifts, we went to a winery where the grownups tasted wine and I read my book and had apple juice. We then had lunch at a burger place and then went to another winery. After that we went back to the house. We also went to the same winery that we went to the last two times that we were there.
We drove home on Monday and when we arrived home there was another gift waiting for Baba on the dining table. It looked like a wine bottle but it was cut in half and had slots where you could serve cheese and crackers. The trip was very fun (and tasty) but I would gladly not go there again for another few months because we have already gone there a lot.
