Weekends keep getting better .... , this past weekend was a weekend getaway in the wilderness with my neighborhood gang. Even though some of us are in different schools and grades now, adventures like rafting and hiking bring us together every summer apart from ofcourse our usual weekend playdates and various day trips rest of the year.
This time we made it an overnight trip and went to Ohiopyle State Park in Pennsylvania.
The adventure started even before we reached Pennsylvania when we stopped over for a bathroom break in a city called Cumberland in Maryland. During our hunt for a bathroom, we suddenly came across George Washington's Headquarters. I could see his bed from the window and also press a button to hear about when George Washington stayed in his first head quarters.
We also stopped at a house called Kentuck Knob and took a tour of the place, which I was told was built by a famous architect Frank Lloyd Wright. When I heard his name I got even more interested to explore as my favorite Lego Ninjago characters name is also Lloyd!
The tour was followed by hiking for rest of the day and all day playdate with my gang. Next day was thrilling with white water rafting on a much rougher river than last year and higher grade of rapids. Initially it was scary and felt our rafts might topple but all our rowing skills came in handy in treading through the waters of Youghiogheny River.
The rafting tour company had a photographer behind the trees who took some great action shots while we were going through one of the rougher rapids Take a look at some pictures from a super fun weekend.
