In the spirit of the Olympics - which I was addicted to last two weeks and the Indian independence day - which was during the Olympics on August 15, I made the Indian flag and Olympics symbols to cheer for my favorite sportsmen and sportswomen who were winning Gold medals in the Olympics.
My favorites were Katie Ledecky from my city Bethesda, Maryland, Michael Phelps from Maryland again, Simone Biles and Bolt!... When Amma told me Bolt is from Jamaica I was shocked as I thought gold medals were only for USA just like my favorite swimmers and gymnasts were winning all week!
That day I also realized that Indian independence is August 15 and USA independence is July 4th - so my question to Amma then was - even in this isn't USA the winner as July comes before August??
During the Olympics and after I have established myself to be an American, little bit Indian and also little bit Mexican... mexican only because I have visited it three times which is as much as I have visited India!
Until my citizenship issues are resolved at home... enjoy these pics from the fun nights I spent watching Olympics..
