Amma, Baba, Thatha, and I went to see the total solar
eclipse. We went with Sohom also and we went to Rochester New York. My parents
had to plan the trip in August 2023 because lots of people wanted to go there.
We were originally planning to see the eclipse in Rochester but Dan uncle who
is a weather scientist found out that it would be cloudy there so we drove off
on the morning of the eclipse on April 8, 2024. From Rochester we went to Erie
Pennsylvania but there were still clouds. After that, we went to a small town
in Ohio called Conneaut. We saw the eclipse there. It was very cool. We saw the
sun turn into a crescent shape as it was covered by the moon. It then became
totality and we saw a ring of light in the sky (see the pictures). We were able
to take our glasses off and look directly at it then. We also saw some solar
flares coming off the sun. Totality lasted around 4 minutes and it was very
cool. We then drove back home. In total, we traveled 600 miles just that day.
It was very cool and I hope to see it again someday.
